SDDP Expands Staff with West River Field Organizer, Plans to Open Field Office in Rapid City

South Dakota Democratic Party Expands Staff with a New West River Field Organizer, Announces Plans to Open West River Field Office in Rapid City

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Democratic Party today announced the expansion of its staff in preparation for the 2018 election with the hiring of Cole Adams as its new West River Field Organizer, as well as its plan to open a new West River Field Office in Rapid City.

Cole Adams“I am pleased to announce this expansion of our staff. Cole has some great organizing experience and has helped elect Democrats across this country, including helping Ralph Northam win the governor’s race in Virginia earlier this month. As our West River Field Organizer, Cole will focus on building up the Democratic Party in Western South Dakota, strengthening existing relationships and building new ones,” said Ann Tornberg, South Dakota Democratic Party Chair. “We are committed to competing in every part of South Dakota, and the hiring of a West River Field Organizer and the opening of a West River Field Office in the coming weeks are part of that commitment.”

South Dakota Democratic Party Executive Director Sam Parkinson pointed to Democratic successes in recent elections around the country and the grassroots energy he has seen in South Dakota as signs Democrats are poised for success in 2018. “Recent elections around the country have shown that when Democrats organize everywhere and lead with our values of freedom, opportunity, and security for all, we can win races anywhere,” said Parkinson. “I look forward to working with Cole and the rest of the Party staff, as well as our great grassroots volunteers across the state, to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2018.”

“I’m excited to take on the role of West River Field Organizer for the South Dakota Democratic Party,” said Adams. “I can’t wait to put my experience organizing and electing Democrats in Texas and Virginia to use in electing Democrats in South Dakota. I see the same great energy that helped Democrats win in Virginia here in South Dakota, and I am confident this energy will help Democrats win in South Dakota in 2018.”

A native of Lubbock, Texas, Adams has worked on a variety of urban city council campaigns, state house races, and with several rural congressional candidates throughout Texas. Earlier in 2017, Adams served as a Field Organizer in Richmond, Virginia for Ralph Northam’s successful campaign for governor. Adams graduated from Texas Tech University in August 2017, with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies.
