Human Rights

Everyone deserves respect. We believe that every person deserves an opportunity to show their character regardless of their skin color, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. We must uphold our laws that guarantee life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our state must also work with tribal governments to ensure that the laws of the tribes and the laws of South Dakota are enforced to protect the weak from the crimes that too often occur on the reservations. Our state must create, in word and action, policies that ensure not only our rights to live, work, and worship in our communities but equal access to affordable health care, childcare, and centers of support – all without fear of discrimination for who you are. South Dakota’s global community requires the fair, impartial and dignified policies that reconcile our diversity with our shared commitment to self-determination, justice, and a decent quality of life for all.
