South Dakota is home to some of America’s poorest counties, most of them in Indian Country. As Democrats, we will not accept the present for what it is. We do not accept the destitute poverty, inadequate general and mental health care services, and overburdened criminal justice system on South Dakota’s reservations. That’s why we’re committed to change. Together, with the Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota people, we’re working to improve educational opportunities, ensure clean water, cultivate tribal energy, and maintain voting rights.
