Thune, Rounds Vote for Middle Class Tax Hikes

The South Dakota Democratic Party released the following statement from Executive Director Sam Parkinson in response to Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds joining their fellow Senate Republicans in passing their tax plan in the middle of the night:

“After virtually no debate, John Thune, Mike Rounds, and their fellow Senate Republicans voted for a tax plan which takes billions of dollars away from the South Dakota’s working families and hands it over to their billionaire donors and wealthy corporations. This plan shows the bankruptcy of Republican leadership – it was built on misinformation and written by the wealthy, for the wealthy. It’s great for the Republican donor class, but horrible for working people and will hurt our economy.

“While Thune, Rounds, and the rest of the Republican Party continue to turn their backs on the middle class, Democrats will continue to fight for an economy – including a tax system – that works for everyone, not just the privileged few.”
