June 4th, 2025
MITCHELL, SD – After the success of the first round of town halls, former USDA Rural Development State Director Nikki Gronli is announcing another town hall.
It will be in Mitchell at the Sherman Center on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University on Wednesday, June 11th at 7pm CT. Marcia Bunger, the former USDA Administrator for the Risk Management Agency will join Gronli as a panelist. This town hall will focus on the federal policies that are impacting South Dakota farmers and their communities. The goal is to discuss tariffs, federal funding cuts, and the challenges our rural communities face.
"Recent tariffs have created uncertainty for South Dakota farmers," said Gronli. "We have an expired Farm Bill. And if the administration continues down its current path, we could see insurance and conservation programs impacted. There's a lot to talk about and we welcome all voices to the table."
Gronli will have press availability right before the town hall at 6:30pm. You can also schedule an interview by contacting SD Democratic Party Communications Director Krista Burns at krista@sddp.org or 651-245-8731.
