School Districts May Face Cuts Despite Governor’s Proposed Funding Increase

Chairman’s Note: Dire fiscal straits are still ahead for many of our school districts, according to a number of school superintendents. After forcing our school children to shoulder a 6.6 percent cut in education funding last year, Governor Daugaard proposed a measly 0.8 percent increase for 2013. Our children in school deserve better than 0.8 percent funding increases. It’s well past time our priorities in Pierre reflect that.
