Where are Noem’s Town Halls?

Congresswoman Kristi Noem returned to South Dakota last week for a five week vacation without passing a Farm Bill, Postal Reform, the Violence Against Women Act, or middle class tax cuts – all legislation passed by the U.S. Senate.

With so much important legislation on the table, South Dakotans have a lot to discuss with Congresswoman Kristi Noem.

So why has Congresswoman Kristi Noem only scheduled one public event over her five week vacation in South Dakota?

The lack of public events, including town halls, is a strange diversion from her public pronouncements over the last two years. Just this last February, Noem penned an editorial for the Rapid City Journal about the importance of town halls for the people of South Dakota to make their voices heard. In her own words, Noem says,

As our state’s only member of the U.S. House, I take the title “representative” very seriously.  Hosting town hall meetings around the state is an important part of that job.  I hope you can attend one soon.

Of course, South Dakotans can’t attend a town hall so long as Noem refuses to hold any! Noem is on vacation for five weeks. If town halls are an important part of the job, either Noem is failing at her job or she doesn’t take the title of “representative” very seriously.

South Dakotans deserve more than one public event over five weeks. Please contact her office to request a town hall in your community. Her contact information is below. With so many issues facing our state, you deserve to have your voice heard.

Stay tuned. We’ll be highlighting more reasons over the next four weeks for Congresswoman Noem to hold public events across South Dakota.
