Native American Code Talkers Honored at Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony

South Dakota tribes got a long overdue recognition today at the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony where Native American Code talkers from 33 different tribes were honored for their efforts in World War I and World War II to save countless American lives through communications in their native languages.
For over a decade, Senator Johnson worked to honor Native American code talkers with Congressional Gold Medals, and today he delivered a speech at the event to recognize the 8 South Dakota tribes honored.
