Chairman’s Note: After savage budget cuts to education and healthcare in 2011 with no reprieve in 2012, Governor Daugaard announced a nearly $50 million budget surplus – your tax dollars just squirreled away in Pierre. The Governor’s announcement is like a parent with a hungry child who brags about his low grocery bill. This is not the time for the Governor to gloat about the budget. It’s time for the Governor to acknowledge his failure to invest in the people of South Dakota and use our tax dollars to ease the burden on our communities back home.
