Democrats Respond to Governor Daugaard Signing HB 1069

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota Democratic Party released the following statement in response to Gov. Dennis Daugaard signing HB 1069, which repeals Initiated Measure 22, the Anti-Corruption Act approved by the voters in November’s election.

“South Dakota’s state motto is ‘Under God the people rule.’ By overturning the will of voters, the Republicans in Pierre showed their contempt for this fundamental belief of how government should work. It begs the question: how can Republicans represent you when they don’t think your voice matters and don’t want to listen to you? While you might disagree with Democrats on one issue or another, we will always listen to you and always put you and family – not the special interests – first.”
