Chairman’s Note: State senate majority leader Russ Olson (R-Wentworth) must be sweating a bit more this week. After Secretary of State Jason Gant rejected the nominating petitions of his opponent, Democrat Charlie Johnson of Madison, a sixth circuit judge overruled Gant, reinstating Johnson on the 2012 general election ballot. The judge asserted a pretty simple philosophy that the Secretary of State dismissed: elections should be decided by the voters in district 8 rather than the bureaucrats in Pierre. District 8 voters now have a real choice for state senate this year, and we all look forward to a strong election.
