State cited in federal election complaint

Chair’s Note: Last week we shared a story with you about early vote centers and access in Indian Country. Since that story ran, Native American voting rights advocacy group Four Directions filed a civil rights complaint filed against the state with the Justice Department. The strength of our democracy depends on equal access to the ballot box. It’s time Secretary of State Jason Gant give up his opposition to satellite voting offices in Indian country, and protect the right to vote for all South Dakotans.
