Chair’s Note: South Dakota has consistently been lampooned for it’s lack of open government, even getting an ‘F’ grade from the State Integrity Investigation. But, reports like this haven’t motivated lawmakers in South Dakota to make our government more open and accessible. A commission for increased open governement proposed eight pieces of legislation this session and as of today, fourofthosebills are dead and one has been gutted. We hope theremainingbills, if passed, help improve the public’s access to government.
